The paper presents a statistical analysis of interpretation of weld radiographs performed independently by 9 radiographers. To assess the impact of  subjective component (human judgment) on the interpretation results we used measures of agreement. Statistical experiment conducted in accordance using ad hoc technique showed only weak agreement between radiographers regarding the determination of the discontinuity defect type. This result casts doubt on the appropriateness of using discontinuity type as the basic criterion for assessing quality in radiographic inspection.

The feasibility of thermography for detecting weld flaws directly in the process of friction stir welding (FSW) has been evaluated. Several types of temperature anomalies have been revealed on the weld and then related to the real weld defects found from the following metallographic examination such as lack of penetration and wormholes.

In this article the method of coherent processing of echosignals which are measured by transducer located in 90 degrees to the scanning line is considered. This method called fronttal projection in spectral space method. Using this method allows to reconstruct reflectors images with high front resolution in comparison with usual visualization. The most effective using of the frontal projection in spectral space method in the case when reflector is far from receiving aperture, for example, at the testing of pipeline main metal with many times impulse reflection from its borders. In this case the signal to noise ratio could be raised on more than 12 dB. Frontal resolution in some cases could be raised in ten times in comparison with usual visualization. Some examples of using this method for images restoration in test block and real control objects are given.

As found in case of core wire like Fe-Cr-B-Al adhesion strength of arc sprayed coatings is increased due to yttrium additives. Further study showed that the adhesion strength of the coating which was formed from Fe-Cr-B-Al-Y core wire is most strongly influenced by arc current, spraying distance and coating thickness. Optimization of these technological parameters was done according to criterion of the maximum adhesion strength. A value of the adhesion strength which was obtained at optimized parameters is of the same level as wide spread analogs.

In this paper was performed numerical evaluation of automatic TIG butt joints the thermal-welding cycle influence on the welding deformation of circumferential welds thin cylindrical shells made of corrosion-resistant austenitic steels and developed recommendations to reduce the welding deformation on welding devices with copper backing.

It has been established that the transmission of ultrasonic energy to the welding zone is dependent on the elastic properties and the vibration attenuation factor in the polymers to be welded. Is shown the essence of the process and transfer contact of ultrasonic welding. Recommendations of the applications are given.

Theoretical and experimental data on the processes occurring in the oxygen flux cutting of iron of ultrahigh thicknesses up to 600 mm are considered in the work. Special design cutter was developed for this, a combustible gas was picked up, a special machine which can perform this task was developed.

The paper describes a method of treating welds, obtained by fusion welding, and the instrument for its implementation. The proposed process allows to remove the excess of the weld metal and provide its plastic deformation. Machining eliminates stress concentration at the weld joint and allows to adjust the residual stress in the weld and heat affected zone, leading to increase re-static loading efficiency.
